About Us
I (Karie Brown) have been a designer since I was 10 years old, with my notebook and color pencil sketches of dresses and hair designs. When I was young I always thought I would be an artist. But like many people, somewhere in those very influential years I accepted the belief that I had to do something that would actually make money.
I went to college, first I pursued business then Public Relations. I ended up in Religion and Counseling. I had a hard time sticking with a program that made money. One thing I did learn in my education is that I had a tremendous desire to help people and make a difference in the world around me. My interest have been in the Environment, humanitarian work, and human rights. Since then I have had amazing opportunities to do different projects all over the world..
As I continued on this road, I saw a disconnect in the two worlds I was equally drawn to. The worlds of Fashion and the world of Philanthropy. I refused to believe that fashion had to be as trite as it is portrayed. It felt so much like art to me.
Last year, I saw my two world converge harmoniously as I left my work and pursued starting my own business: KarieSue Creations. My Mission was to create and facilitate creativity among and for women. I have seen this manifested in many ways through SEED, Orlando’s Art Alliance, through volunteering in my community, and through teaching classes on entrepreneurship and creativity.
My Vision was to create sustainable fashion accessories that are eco-friendly, animal friendly, and people friendly.
I value the initiative of fair-trade and pay fair prices for products and raw materials. I buy and sell locally first to support our local community and to lessen our carbon footprint. I also use and reuse as much as possible from reclaimed paper to hand make each of my business cards (left) to hairpieces being made from recycled plastic bottles (top right.) All the while not slacking in quality and professionalism. The feathers I use are free range and are taken through the natural molting process. I also offer free hairpieces for students who volunteer in the Orlando community!

Hi Karie,
It was so nice to meet you again this morning at church!! I loved looking at your beautiful creations and love the recycling approach! I’ll look forward to connecting with you sometime as God gives opportunity:).
Karen
Me too. I was very encouraged by you Sunday. You radiate peace to everyone around you!
I have a date with my husband this Friday:) How about next Friday or sometime the week after? My # is 407-339-1107.
Hi Karie,
How are you? What is your schedule like? I really would love to connect with you and learn more about you and your crafts. Are you available during the daytime at all?
Hi there! I was the other massage therapist on duty the night you had your serindipidous blow-out. I hope your car is okay and all was resolved! Anyway, my name’s Sandra and I was looking at your Etsy page…I read that you’re at “Audobon” on Wednesday nights… Where is that specifically and what times?? I’d love to come see you and some of your fabulous hair things–I want to buy myself a little sweet something for my birthday!
The Audobon Market is on Wednesdays starting at 6pm. It is held in the parking lot of Stardust coffeehouse. I won’t be there this week (tonight) but next week I will. It is also the fall opening! It’s kind of a big deal! 😉
Hello Karie,
It was very nice meeting you at the OPP Swap and Shop. I’m currently planning a shoe fashion show for the non-profit organization Dress for Success, and wanted to invite you. The fundraiser will be downtown at Finn Henry’s on Wed March 31st from 7pm-9pm. When the event is over, I will have lots more time to share my millinery background with you. I look forward to seeing how you create your beautiful hair accessories and learning your green business practices. Let me know what days and times are good for you to trade trades.
Sincerely,
Kisha Cobourne
